What to do with gold fodder?

Ive hit quite a bottleneck currently and don't quite know how to go about fixing it. I've accumulated quite a lot of gold fighters, but don't know what to do with them. I've go through my bronzes and silvers and will evolve all that I can, but now the issue is the amount of golds I have sitting in my inventory. I can never get essences fast enough to use the fodder to evolve things to diamond. Are my options basically either sac them for xp/points or hang onto them? Wish there was another way to utilize them like sac for essence or something
