Upgrading the fighters you're going to scrap will have no effect on the character being evolved. You can level them up to receive their level up SP though, which I recommend.

I wanna be the very best... Mine aren't too bad; My beo moves give my WB +48% ATK, +24% DEF, +30% HP, +15% Meter gain for level 6-9 moves which feels pretty nice!

The disgusting part comes in when you use the Last Hope's Forbidden Procedure to res the bombs and then send them immediately back out to die and explode again. Also those just happen to also be the strongest beo's, and I happen to have them trained up already.

With the way Haste works, this would actually be somewhat of a hindrance to focus on meter gain. Haste doesn't stack with meter gain, it just gives you 100%+ meter gain for the duration, which is the max for meter gain.
