Did anyone actually like the Guest Stars?

The update was pretty good for me, but it made the game very heavy and cluttered here plus you don't need guests to make combos or get buffs since there are variants and strategies for this.

Where I live most players (especially the older ones like me) are "furious" about this update, but there are also players who liked it.

Not a huge fan of their addition. It has made certain fights easier, and has opened up the door for some fun combos. But I really would've preferred the work to have been dedicated to stand alone characters

Meh. I would have expected them to be more polished as they have been working on them for quite a while but they feel clunky sometimes when trying to do combos with them. There are many bugs/interactions that should be fixed as well. Main issue is how they implemented them, they made it incredibly grindy yet didn't really give us a reliable way to get the required materials. Especially the coins, new PF doesn't even have a coin reward which makes it harder to progress in the game.

Idea is decent, implementation sucks.
