I know this as a veteran player, but the gameplay sometimes gets repetitive. Just a suggestion to spice things up, but adding an arcade mode where players can play something different than the 2d scroller. Like a a game of chess with each of the characters being the chess pieces. I know this might take a while and that this is merely a suggestion, but it's something worthwhile to look into.
