I've noticed this happen for a while now, but sometimes i use the following combo with varying degrees of success:
L5 > J3 > Cruel Lily > L5
Just now i fought a Cerebella and used the combo described above and was able to get of my second full L5.
10 seconds later i repeat the same combo, but this time Cerebella instantly drops out of the L5 and making me eat a DaF, which wasn't very fun.
I've seen this with different other characters too, where sometimes it will work after cruel lily but other times it will, even though it's the same character and the same situation (middle of the arena both times for example)
