why is there silver fighters in two to tangle-bronze?

Usually happens when you're higher than the average bronze team. A couple bronze teams will be around that level, but most will be weaker. So, for the sake of having diverse team choices, the game adds some Silver teams around that level in. Al probably was just playing in Silver normally. Either that, or he hacked or it's a bug.

It's a bug. I managed to accidentally get my gold team into the bronze PF rotation once. I can't give a step by step on how to replicate the glitch, but I can tell you for sure it's a bug and not hacking. The short of it is that after meeting certain conditions, you can make it so that the game will register your last used team into any PF of your choosing.
