Defending Champ, I guess. He's an attacker, his health is not that great. If he starts taking damage, he might be dead before getting any benefit from Challenger MA.

The most spiritually accurate MA would be Challenger. Since Goku was often weaker than the main bad guys he fought (Frieza, Cell, Majin Buu).
