EDIT: Please note the game has been patched since this guide was made. Please see the first reply for an updated version.

I'm sure some of you have come across this quest: Defeat a team with a Fidght Score that's 3 or 4 times higher than your team. It may seem like an almost impossible goal, especially that 4x quest, but there's some simple enough solutions out there!

Firstly, the best advice for these quests is finding one that lets you only equip one guy, and the enemy can equip 3. Their FS total will spike dramatically, but each individual opponent shouldn't be too hard.

My go to quest for this is the Story Chapter 'Going All In' on Expert. In the River King Casino portion, there's a mission over on the right where you fight Painwheel, Big Band and Parasoul. This quest is restricted to Bronze characters only, and you only get to equip one character. The enemy team should be around 5,400 FS.

You can see it marked here:

A max leveled Bronze character with no upgrades will probably come in somewhere around 760 FS. If you then max out their attack damage skill tree you'll still be probably less than 1000 FS. The enemy team will be somewhere around 5 times higher FS than you, but still ends up not being too difficult a fight!

Enjoy your easy 40 and 60 Theonite from the quests :)

Those crafty devs seem to have plugged this hole! It seems in one of the early patches after the Soft Launch a lot of the story mode missions were tweaked to have new requirements and FS totals. Combined with the massive hike in AI difficulty, this quest is no longer the cake walk it once was!

The quest I listed above is still your best bet, but it has seen some changes.
It is still a Bronze only event, and the opponents you'll face will still have around 5007 FS. This still makes it a great quest to choose because the average Bronze character will rarely be above 1400 FS. The biggest change to the quest is that now you only face 2 enemies instead of three. This makes their individual FS scores far higher (2500 each).

If you want to get the 'Beat an enemy with FS of 3x score" your Bronze character can have a maximum FS of 1668.
If you want the 4x quest, your Bronze character can have a maximum of 1250.

Be careful when upgrading your characters that they don't go over those FS totals above, or they'll become useless for the quests.

----------- How I Beat the Stage ----------------

My recommendation is to go with a Cerebella of some sort. Make sure she's got grabs equipped as the new AI means they'll be teching all your throws. The specials/BBs I've had success with are Merry Go-Rilla and Diamond Drop.

Strategy:
Never attack first. Let them do a special attack or a combo, then punish them with a combo. Painwheel will almost 100% of the time do a full combo followed by a sweep or launcher, punish those.

Use your standard tap combo, and on the final hit use Merry Go-Rilla. As soon they hit the ground, backdash away. Do not push them into the corner or you won't be able to Merry Go-Rilla them. MGR also often works if they block your combos, so use it to escape bad combo attempts.

Diamond drop is for use only in emergencies when your combos are being blocked.

I don't bother equipping levels 3s because I've generally been dead by the time I get to use them. Diamond Drop works fine in conjunction with a couple of Merry Go-Rillas, or the other way around.

I really do not think it's possible to defeat this stage with less than 1k fighter level.

I am trying super hard at 900 Peacock ... around 3 x 3 tries a day and it's still super hard to defeat haha!

Guess I'll have to farm more skill points and get 4 moves or something.... will try again.. this fight is very very tricky!

Don't bother trying to upgrade Peacock's health if you are upgrading her. You will die from 2-3 combos no matter what your health is at this level, so put all your effort into attacks, special slots and combo extenders.

I never tried it with Peacock personally, but I'll give it a shot later and see if there's any good strats.

EDIT: I just beat it with an 800 FS Peacock. I'll write a proper guide later.

I think the best fighter to beat this level is Bad Hair Day Filia, because she can evade attacks by back dashing and her signature ability has a chance to inflict bleed.

Fenrir Drive BB3 is a must have equip for this since it does the most damage out of all Filia's blockbusters. For the rest I recommend Gregor Samson, Drill Tempered, Ringlet Spike and Drillationship or Burst.

Here's what I used to beat it with with Peacock:

The rarity of the specials doesn't matter too much. I had gold Georges I deliberately didn't use.

So the same general strategy works here as with Cerebella: NEVER ATTACK FIRST. EVER.

Whenever someone attacks you, block until they finish. Both Parasoul and Painwheel will 99% of the time finish their combos with a sweep or a launcher, giving you a perfect opportunity to counter attack.

On your counter attack, you're going to use a sneaky combo using Georges that honestly I think might be a little busted and will probably get patched out. I need to explore it a bit more, but I think with a little practice and 5 Georges you can kill almost any character in the game in one combo. @MightyZug might want to take a look at this :p

  1. Start with a tap combo.
  2. On the final hit (where Peacock fires a canon ball), use a George.
  3. Immediately use a dash attack.
  1. Follow with a tap combo.
  2. On the final hit, use George number 2.
  3. Use dash attack.
  1. Follow with tap combo.
  2. George.
  3. Dash
etc.

Basically you can use this for as many Georges you have. When you run out, just finish the combo with a launcher > air combo > Argos Agony.

Why this works: The final hit of Peacock's tap combo (canon ball) does a lot of hitstun, so the enemy is trapped juuust long enough to get hit with a George. George also does a lot of hitstun, so the enemy is trapped juuuust long enough to get hit with a dash attack. Dash attack can be comboed into a tap combo.
The chains of attacks all loop into each other, effectively making an infinite, albeit one you can only repeat a maximum of 5 times.
(I have never leveled up a Peacock's special recharge rate, so it might be possible to turn this into an actual infinite)

Mission should be over pretty quick as long as you only ever attack when the enemy is exposed!

never attack first! got it.. I will try it again tonight!

Thank you for the many many countless tips! Hopefully I can get about beating this stage! (Thankfully though, the game allows us to move on past this stage!)

I think this stage will be an obstacle for many... It's really the only stage i've really struggled with.

I've never really focused on the tap tap george combo.. but will definitely try to getting to master it!! I also have a level 6 Georges day out so hopefully that will help a bit.

If I can't beat it with my peacock this week I will probably try going to upgrade the bronze filia like terrific mentioned.. hopefully wont come to this! :)

Beat it with 1,200 FS big band! Had to put 3 Cymbal Clashes on him though.

For 3x and 4x fights, I usually do Whose's the boss (basic) - under the bridge. There is a 400fs 1v1 fight that's easy to do with any unupgraded lv 1 bronze fighter. Equip gold moves that gives flat hp or atk bonuses and it'll be a piece of cake.
