As seen in Peacock and Painwheel's Origin story modes, the Medici were first to grab Carol. The Anti-Skullgirl Labs raided a Medici compound and discovered captives, including Carol, a schoolgirl from the Maplecrest suburbs. This rescue unfortunately becomes a second kidnapping when Brain Drain orders that she be brought in to the Labs as she possesses the rare traits needed for the experiment that will eventually transform her into Painwheel.

Since it has been seven years since the rampage of Skullgirl Queen Nancy, tensions are high as the next Skullgirl could appear at any moment. This fear is used to justify ruining the girl's life.
