Is the 4-hour refresh time of CoC better than the old CoC?

As stated in the title, I was wondering if it's a good change for the CoC to have longer refresh times. Even with more items offered in the shop per refresh, doing some simple math

Old CoC
3 tabs with 6 items each per refresh every hour, which is 18 total items
That is a total of 72 items in the span of 4 hours

New CoC
4 tabs with 8 items each per refresh every 4 hours, which is a total of 32 items
When divided per hour, it gives us just 8 items

So the old CoC offers 225% (that's 2¼ times) more items than the current CoC, assuming that the player will play and timely open the cabinet every hour for 4 hours. I'm not a grindy player myself and the CoC has been one of my very few sources of diamond keys.

IMO, this question isn’t worth asking, I think it’s blatantly obvious how horrific the changes to CoC has MASSIVELY negative consequences.

A little context: the CoC cooldown was originally 8 HOURS until enough people in the discord revolted against it and got generously (/s) cut down to 4.

Despite the fact that the problems with the CoC (Useless garbage overshadowed coveted items, some low value items were overpriced, etc.) were left completely unaddressed, for some bizarre reason, the devs thought that adding two slots was gonna offset the backlash….

The theo tab is so overpriced while also having so little material value for your average player that players have been theorizing that it’s intended to be a “WHALE” tab. When you see 250 theo for a gold move (that could be 0/3, 1/3, 2/3 or 3/3 in stats) and 2,000 (why???????) theo for a Legendary Relic among other odd pricing decisions, I find it hard to disagree. Originally, the theonite tab was suggested as a way to actually spend the “premium” in game currency as when you become an endgame player, the options are limited. No one spends theo on skill trees, or resetting CoC, or resetting streaks, or in many cases… not even the relics were worth it. So the best way to spend theo (premium currency) was to convert it into CC (nonpremium currency), I think you see the problem there. (Also, AG nerfed the amount of coins you could get from this method, which is…. great /s)

One of the best reactions to this situation to sum everything up comes from Lady Minx on discord saying:
“ This new Cabinet is awful. The beauty of the old one was while it was all rng, it refreshed often enough that a bad cabinet wouldn’t be a problem in an hour.

The hourly cabinet kept people (including myself) logging back in, consistently, throughout the day. Yeah, sure you could lose that Diamond key sitting in the rift coin section cause you were trying to grind the remaining coins, but it WILL come back. It would take time, but it would eventually be back. So this “giving players time” is a god awful excuse for a godawful change.

The new theonite tab is underwhelming at best. I’ve opened that tab just to laugh at the prices of the silver shards and gold moves that take up most of the spaces. The excuse that you plan on giving more rewards with a feature that *WE HAVE NO DATE OF RELEASE ON* is a BAD excuse. We don’t know when it’s going to get better. In all honesty, I don’t trust that you have a better plans in the future for the economy

Additionally, removing the art of taliesin leaves a bad taste in my mouth. This is not the first time that the UI changes no one asked for has obscured or removed art.

I’ve been trying to stay positive about this shift, but this simplisticly stupid change has shattered all trust I have left. I’ve been playing this game since it first hit the play store. I went through the rough, resource-less years. Why are we regressing?

432 options at max if you checked the cabinet every hour. Now its 192 possible options. And that’s if you are diligent enough to get on every 4 hours to make sure you can get all your chances. 48 of those chances are the aforementioned underwhelming theo store, so in reality 144 chances to get something worth while.

That’s 3x LESS than what we had before.

You haven’t removed the bronze and silver moves from the store. Your theonite store is bad. The refresh cost does nothing to aid how awful of a change this is. There is no path to soothe how awful this change is. Revert it and don’t touch it again.”

Another one from the (seemingly) first person that actually
brought up the suggestion of changing CoC for the better, Carrot, reacted by saying:
“ Everything that changed

> 8 items in the CoC
> Refresh time increased to 8 from 1
> Refresh cost reduced to 15
> New Theo tab

Why each and EVERY one of these are bad

Let's start with the refresh changes. Realistically before the update you would open the coc about 5-8 times a day on average as you log on at different times of the day. This gives you 8 chances to find the items you're looking for, and find good moves keys, shards or whatever you're trying to buy. Now you can only open the CoC about 2 times and 3 on the rarest case.
Previously you would be given 8×6 - 48 items on any given tab on the CoC, not good odds, especially considering the junk that's in there. But that's why I made this suggestion.
Now you would be given 3×8 - 24 chances, on top of the junk that already existed. The useless (s-word) were NOT removed, prices were NOT reduced, and a change was made that (f-word) up the whole economy.
Getting keys, catalyst and retakes were hard enough, but at least we had the unreliable CoC to rely on, even though it was unreliable, it refreshed every hour, giving us a chance to find it, but now there's not even that. Keys cost the same, but now they're harder to (f-word) get, the junk clogs up good spots for the stuff we want and we're more encouraged to spend Theo.
And speaking of that, Theo tab and the refresh price reduction are awful too. The refresh price is fine, but not in the context it's been implemented in. You're now asked to spend loads of theo on the CoC, either refreshing it or spending it on the all new Theo tab. BUT NO CHANGES WERE MADE TO THE THEO INCOME.
We're still getting Theo at the same rate, and we're asked to spend it at a higher rate. Do you realize how stupid this is?

The CoC was a crucial part of the economy and y'all (f-word) it up. First the coin nerf in the store and now this? All I'm understanding is that the developers have ZERO idea on how the economy works and should stop adjusting it immediately.

I mean how hard was it to delete random (s-word) from appearing in the CoC??? How hard was it to change the prices??? How hard was it come to a middle ground and at least make the refresh 4 hours???

And DON'T try to justify it by saying 'oH WeRe GonNA hAVe MOrE TheO In tHE MonThLy'.
It does not justify this change. If a Theo tab is to be made, you need to account for amount of Theo and average player would spend on it and add it to the income somehow.

This is a half baked effort that ruins one of the best QoL features in the game. I admit it wasn't good before (that's why this thread originally existed) but god is it trash now.

FIX IT. DON'T (f-word) IT UP MORE ! “

(Also, this was the initial reaction before even finding out that if you refresh the CoC using theo, the price incrementally gets more expensive and stays that way vs. the previous CoC had a static one value refresh)

(Also, I think the forums don’t allow you to curse so I censored them out)

To bring it back, the reason I originally claimed that this question wasn’t worth asking is one major point: I don’t even think it’s DEBATABLE whether or not this change was a good one, in the discord (which is probably going to be the best place to reach the devs & discuss the game in real time as after the lawsuit, this forum is mostly kinda dead.) it is unanimously hated.

It is most definitely a nerf to the CoC. Realistically speaking theo tab is utterly worthless as an addition, unless prices are adjusted and we get new ways to earn theonite.

It honestly doesn't really affect me as I don't care CoC enough to check it hourly, at best I log in once or twice per day (except last rift day). However the CoC nerf is still absurd, after the addition of Guest Stars game became even more time-gated so nerfing CoC, a decent progression way, makes no sense at all.
