🎃 Skullgirls Halloween Art Contest! 🎃 (...2024 Edition)

One of the most enjoyable events of the Skullgirls calendar, the Halloween Art Contest gives the community the chance to showcase their talents and flex their creativity while celebrating the incredible Skullgirls universe and its characters. The Art Contest has been a smash hit year-on-year and we're hoping that the 2024 edition will be one of the best yet.

The theme of this contest is Skullgirls Presents: Horror Icons!

In keeping with the Halloween theme, we want you to draw any Skullgirls character as any popular character from the horror genre! Ever wanted to see Eliza as The Bride of Frankenstein, Minette as Jason Voorhees, Beowulf as Albert Wesker, or Robo-Fortune as the Cabin from Cabin Fever? Well, now's your chance!

There's plenty of scope here, with a wide cast of characters and over 100 years of Horror to draw from, so we're looking forward to seeing what you, our beloved community, create! Not to be negative nancies, but while Horror is a distinctly dark topic, we are not looking for images depicting violent acts or explicit gore. We would like to share your work on our social channels, so keep it creepy, but relatively clean, capiche?

You are free to enter artwork drawn digitally or traditionally. No AI-generated artwork will be considered.

CONTEST RULES:
  • Your task is to draw a Skullgirls character as a horror character from any media eg. Film, TV, Comics, Literature & Gaming.
  • You are not required to draw playable characters. Non-playable characters are fine too!
  • Skullgirls Mobile is rated T for Teen, so your contest entries should be the same!

My favorite season of the year is here!!

Hello there dear SGM Dev team! I would like to know if sculptures/dioramas are a valid way to participate? Or only traditional and digital drawings will be taken into account, thank you!

If it is just paint (or red pixels), it should be just fine. When they say no gore, is for extreme gore as explicit cuts, exposed gross organs (I´m watching you Double >_O), really violent actions vs the characters, etc. You can suggest some violence, but keep the good taste in your work, or they won´t be able to show it even if it is awesome.

Oh my!! Thank you!! I hope they like the idea so you can see what I have in mind! :D

Can i draw an urban legend, or is that an another thing?
If its fits in with the scary/horror theme, that's fine

There's a line, as horror pieces we can expect things to be a little grim, perhaps some bloody weaponry or monstrous appearance - but we're not interested in images of our characters being brutally murdered, or dripping in viscera, or wearing their insides as outsides. Well, except for Double, who wears that every day.

Can Skullgirls OCs be included with the canon roster in the submission? 🙏

For contest entries, we're looking for canon Skullgirls characters only.
But feel free to draw your OC anyway if you want. Would be fun to see.

My favorite season of the year is here!!

I will look into this and get back to you. I believe we're looking for traditional/digital drawings.
Regardless, I'm sure everybody would love to see your work anyway.

Icons as in famous, not icons as in avatars. By 'Horror Icons' we mean 'famous horror characters'.

As long as it fits in with the theme, anime/manga references are fine.
