Pretext: I have a marqueed Altar Ego and have playtested her
Altar Ego is one of the six new variants. She looks absolutely stunning and has a great attack stat. but, to cut to the chase: she is not good.
TL/DR: bottom
I reall like the idea of a damaging taunt. so here are some suggestions to make her a diamond to be proud of:
TL/DR:
Positives: great attack stat, best palette
Negatives: her SA
First SA is chaos but little worse, still ok
Second SA does too little damage, reward is too niche, requires MA to actually do the niche well, uses a moveslot and removes your advantage.
Lots of buff ideas

Even before she was released into the public, it was fairly obvious she was not going to be great.
Her first SA is similar to chaos: inflict random debuffs.
Advantages:
you dont have to hit the opponent, nor do you have to be in elemental advantage
Disadvantages:
duration is shorter, only 1 debuff every 2 seconds.
Also want to note that the range feels very limited, like how Bio exorcist range is lower than miasma. While this first ability isn't the worst, it does not add anything new or special to double. That isn't always an issue.

The issue is the second signature ability:
25% attack as damage per debuff removed. Just for a reference: a level 9 special move does around 150% of double's attack. It is laughably low. Not only that, it requires you to dedicate 1 moveslot to equip a taunt. thats 1 damaging move less. Not only this, but it also removes all the advantagous debuffs you have applied, helping the opponent. The 2 cases where this wouldn't be an issue is when it kills, or when all the debuffs are about to run out anyway. But since both her SA1 and MA inflict debuffs over a longer period of time, this is never the case.
when it kills, it does so permanently. Finally, a new ability for double. Is it good? sometimes. Do other fighters do it better? always. Think of biting cold, an umby bb3 or robo fortune's bb3. Killing with the taunt is not simple to do. it does little damage, so fighters must be extremely low on hp or have 10+ debuffs. This requires chaos, which discards all the advantages her SA1 bring to the table. She also loses the advantage all the debuffs brought (hex, curse, bleed, etc.) which means it only ever should be used to kill (which, like mentioned, it does poorly). it is comparable to how firebranded's SA2 (remove enrages to inflict stun + heavy bleed) is dubious to use too.

I reall like the idea of a damaging taunt. so here are some suggestions to make her a diamond to be proud of:
-increase the debuff timer
-lower the period from 2 to 1 second
-increase the amount of buffs applied at once
-change it completely
-lower the period from 2 to 1 second
-increase the amount of buffs applied at once
-change it completely
-do the exact same with enemy buffs too, or removing them heals you instead
-boost the damage of the taunt. the most simple, but needs to be drastic.
-simply dont remove the debuffs
-remove your own debuffs and gain health for each debuff removed
-drain instead of damage (so the damage heals herself)
-reset the timer of the debuffs but deal even less damage
-make 1 of the debuffs permanent and remove the rest (if more than x debuffs)
