I’ve been reading the discord reaction to the roadmap and it’s mostly doomposting w/ a small mix of: “Won’t get my hopes up, but trying to remain somewhat optimistic.”

As for my opinion on the matter: none of these changes really excite me in any way, shape or form. The presentation on the website is rough, but with a two person team, I wasn’t expecting much and besides, I don’t care too much for presentation if the substance is worth it (it’s not).

I question if guilds will actually be good or will be another insufferable grind fest.

Thank Jesus Christ Almighty, Guest Stars are being forgotten. I honestly wish HVS sued before GS released and the idea got scrapped but :/

Player cap is w/e. It’s better than nothing, and I remain hopeful that they could do something with it that makes the game feel like it’s something worth playing, but my expectation: new level cap that does nothing (materially).

“Game balance changes” sounds vague, but let’s hope it’s something good ig.

Origin stories is getting new content, which tbh wasn’t super expected so yay ig.

The most depressing realization is that character kit reworks are prob ripbozo rn.

Double, Marie, Cerebella, Beowulf and Painwheel are just gonna have to stay that way…which is rough.

All-In-All: meh/10. Hope the game doesn’t die but if it does… o7

I wasn’t expecting much so it was actually okay for me.

I didn’t get the feeling that Tim is just in it to milk this game before it dies. He was able to articulate some long term goals that understandably will take time for his team to execute. At least there’s some logic and drive to what they’re trying to do. It was better than not hearing anything from HVS other than the occasional patch notes for the past couple of years (probably couldn’t due to legal reasons).

I’ll reserve my opinions until we see the actual character balance efforts and Cabinet pricing / stock adjustments.

Not going to expect much from guilds and I suspect much of it was just moving forward with ideas HVS have been working on. It’s not like Rift and PR and Guest Stars were implemented well to begin with, so I don’t have high expectations.

Let’s hope whatever new centralized system they use for feedback is easily accessible and to use. Hope to see you guys all migrate over there when it’s up.

I'll never understand why they are rushing guilds when there are already so many unpolished aspects.

Devs are horribly underestimating how bad the game balance currently is. There are many characters that require complete reworks. You literally can't utilize most of the characters in high tier Rifts due to how outdated they are as a whole. However they didn't even talk about characters themselves, they were only saying "variants". If their understanding of game balance is overloaded variants for underwhelming characters, oh boy.

Also trying to glorify "Guild Wars" in the vid was really ludicrous when you take a look at the current state of Rift Battles. Devs should take a look at what actual percentage of players participate in rifts, how diverse are their character selections etc. before causing another rift-like experience.

"Malice in Wonderland" fighters are probably Painwheel and Marie as evidenced by the apparent card art being used as the background. Perhaps Marie as Alice (the blonde Disney one, not the black-haired Alice Liddell from American McGee's Alice represented by Plot Twisted Squigly) or the Mad Hatter? She's sipping tea. Painwheel could be any Lewis Carroll character, or maybe something tangential to the nightmare vs. dream theme.

Origin story candidates (in descending order of interest): Double, Annie, Eliza, Marie, Black Dahlia, Umbrella, Ms. Fortune, Beowulf, Robo-Fortune, Fukua.

I'm in favor of getting away from the Discord, which is like a disorganized junk drawer
