OFFICIAL: 7.1 Update Notes - New Monthly Fighters!

The only thing I was actually looking forward to was the balance changes. I was disappointed again as I was expecting much more considering how long it has been since we got a balance patch.

New units and balance changes:

Seeing Shear Force there definitely felt weird because I thought it was just an unnecessary buff but it turns out it is an "adjustment". They made her more capable when used solo but slightly reduced her synergistic capabilities, overall looks like a buff though.

New Double gotta be the most boring gold unit to be ever released. Don't get me wrong, her functionality and especially card art is superb, but it is just too basic.

Last Hope rework sounds nasty, everyone gets to have a "true" safety net with no prior conditions or whatsoever? The heck were they thinking? It is incredibly strong in both offense and defense which persists even if you defeat her first (or so I heard). But hey don't worry, Shear Force is in the shard store now, just get her and you will be fine! Yikes...

Cabinet:

Adding just two item slots then increasing the refresh timer to 4 hours (it was 8 originally but they got so much backlash from discord that they had to reduce it) is really absurd, considering there are only a few things that can be worth buying.

Theo tab is... Dunno what they thought, they didn't even improve the theos we gain regularly, so what is the point of this tab? Prices aren't even cheap, there is barely anything worth getting.

Bring back Taliesin, we literally got downgraded in terms of both progression and main selling point of this game ART.

It's all for your friendly neighborhood whales ofc. The downtime was increased in order to incentivize refresh use, which was previously never utilized because of how much it cost, plus you had to just wait an hour. Now that the cost is lower, more people will be curious to use it, and thus Theo starve themselves. Gotta love the marketing department, they sure know how to ruin everything. As for pricing, I think it's not that bad. You get a decently large chunk of elemental essences for the price and dia shards aren't too bad. But yea, it's the P2W tab

My sentiments exactly. For every step forward, I feel like the team is making several steps back. Some additions may seem pointless, but keep in mind that each dev on the team needs to work on something, and if several devs are dedicated to larger scope, then minor scope items will need to be taken care of, even if they don't provide any real value. (certain visual or aesthetic changes as of late).

As for the balance changes themselves, it's a mixed bag. Not enough was done and certain things like Last Hope are just very questionable. She literally became a powercrept version of Kill Joy. Not only does the revive work on Val as well, but each revived character also gains Heavy Regen. There is absolutely 0 reason to ever use Kill Joy now, thus reducing defender diversity instead of improving on it.

The new variants feel very uninspired, and I'm certain that's because of time constraints, as they're reusing existing behaviors, but with some alterations. I'm guessing the quarter 3 patch is going to be pretty big, if they manage to squeeze in everything major by then, or late quarter 4. But we'll see

will there ever be a healer peacock? that would be soo cool you guys should consider that

- Bad news. Octoplasm‘s sig1 debuff duration increase has completely removed in 7.3.1…

- It's a real shame because I loved combining it with Death Wish, Heartless, Unholy etc. sig2 seems to be fine but this is a wrong way imo

The rework sounds pretty good actually. My only concern is the Bleed. Without it, she'd make a pretty decent PR support, since Slime and Sustain are quite valuable there. The biggest downside is still the fact that she's limited to only Water Fighters...

Edit 1: I just realized her SA1 is yet again a copy of another fighter, but limited only to Water Fighters. It's literally Icy Hot's SA1 + SA2 🤣

Edit 2: Rythm Rider + Octo + Tidal is pretty good. The opponent is constantly at 5 stacks of Slime which is nice. Rockstar + Biting Cold + Octo is also interesting. Not super optimal, but interesting

Last Hope nerf is appropriate. She's still a powercrept version of Kill Joy, but she's at least not egregiously more powerful than her.

Pyro Technique buff was a surprise, and a welcomed one.
Edit: On second thought, this is a bit of a BLURF. It's better for Rifts and PFs, but is a significant nerf for PRs. She can reliably apply lots of WITHER stacks, making the Hot Rod artifact very good on her. But now that she also applies Bleed... well.. You don't want that in Nightmare and No Mercy for obvious reasons. Their intentions with this change are good, since Val has innate sources of Bleed, but I'm 50/50 on it right now

Very happy for the Scare Giver buffs too, but her biggest problem still remains. The super short duration on her own Haste. You really need Haste support fighters in order to get the best use out of her

A loooot of more buffs as well, some seem a bit extreme tbh, but we'll see. I'm honestly positive with this patch. The new bunch of fighters ain't too shabby too.

Every uprising needs teamwork, and as they always say, there’s no bond greater than blood. In this month’s FAMILY TIDES Backstage Pass, Angel Maker Umbrella is ready to tag in (or out) to help fuel the fight. Balance Changes:

Here is a list of balance changes coming in with this patch! We have a rework for Octoplasm Marie as well as a small rework (again!) to Last Hope Valentine’s SA1. Most of these fighters can be found in July’s Revolutionary Relic, so make sure you pick them up or increase your prestige level if you already have them!
Octoplasm Marie (Rework! Special thanks to Deny17S for their input!)
  • SA1: When TAGGING to or from Marie, WATER teammates gain 2 stacks of REGEN for 15 seconds and 10/12/15% BLOCKBUSTER METER.
  • SA2: While Marie is alive, WATER teammates’ hits have a 15/20/25% chance to inflict BLEED, SLIME, or QUIETUS for 15 seconds each while benefiting from REGEN.
Previously:
  • SA1: While Marie is alive, opponent DEBUFF durations are increased by 5 seconds (excluding STUN). Does not affect Water Fighters.
  • SA2: When using a MORTUARY CHARGE, remove all opponent BUFFs and inflict QUIETUS for 35 seconds. Also grant permanent HEAVY REGEN to all Water teammates.
Last Hope Valentine (SA1 Rework):
  • SA1: While Valentine is alive, when any teammate is defeated, RESURRECT that teammate with 15/20/25% HEALTH. This effect only occurs once per other teammate.
Previously:
  • SA1: Once per match when any teammate is defeated, RESURRECT with 25% HEALTH.
Pyro-Technique Valentine:
  • SA1: BLOCKBUSTER and SPECIAL MOVE HITS have a 20% chance to inflict WITHER and BLEED (from just WITHER) for 10 seconds.
  • SA2: 20% chance on HIT to gain ENRAGE for 10 seconds if the opponent is suffering from WITHER or BLEED (from just WITHER).
Scare Giver Cerebella:
  • SA2:15/20/25% (from 5/10/15%) chance on HIT to grant ENRAGE for 10 seconds and to DRAIN 3/4/5% (from 1/2/3%) HEALTH from the opponent while benefiting from HASTE.
Near Death Valentine:
  • SA2: While the opponent is suffering from a DEBUFF, grant DEADEYE for 15 seconds when using a BLOCKBUSTER. Also while the opponent has 3 or more stacks of GUARD BREAK, BLOCKBUSTERS deal 50/75/100% (from 30/40/50%) bonus damage.
Ogre Achiever Beowulf:
  • SA2: While in HYPE MODE, BLOCKBUSTERS have a 100% chance to grant permanent ENRAGE and heal for 10% HEALTH. (“ENRAGE is removed when KNOCKED DOWN” has been removed)
Risky Ginger Parasoul, Idol Threat Filia, Ms. Trial Ms. Fortune, and Chameleon Twist Fukua:
Changed all activation effects on these fighters that proc from “on Dashing Opponents” to “on Attacking Opponents”. The effects still occur on dashing opponents as well, but will now trigger on counter hits, too.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed an issue where the interactions between Shear Force Filia’s SA1 and Soul Crusher Black Dahlia’s SA1 would cause a crash.
  • Fixed an issue where Skill Points were not being shown when attempting to purchase something using Skill Points in the Cabinet of Curiosities.
  • Fixed an issue where the refresh cost for the Cabinet of Curiosities was not resetting after a refresh.

July's month is themed around... Bioshock 2 (2010). Tides, rapture, what appears to be palettes for Big Sister and Little Sister (saved). Perhaps the default, glowing yellow eyed Little Sister would have looked better/more unique for Umbrella. The paired card art is a nice touch.

With Enrage supports this is gonna be nasty. Heck you can just intercept on wake-up anyways. Not that we needed another Miasma Parasoul but sounds fun nonetheless.

Angel Maker Umbrella (Diamond Support):
Base HP: 3566 Base ATK: 624
  • SA1: When TAGGING from Umbrella, the incoming Fighter gains 3 stacks of ENRAGE, 3 stacks of MIASMA, and IMMUNITY for 15/18/20 seconds each at the cost of up to 35/30/25% of Umbrella’s MAX HEALTH.

Holy moly that is one hell of a kit!
UHost culls her really bad, Reimaged could be a problem as well unless Immunity is the last debuff to be converted. Really solid kit, I would love to have her.

I really like this. Insane value for offensive water units.

Last Hope Valentine (SA1 Rework):
  • SA1: While Valentine is alive, when any teammate is defeated, RESURRECT that teammate with 15/20/25% HEALTH. This effect only occurs once per other teammate.
Good call.

Scare Giver Cerebella:
  • SA2:15/20/25% (from 5/10/15%) chance on HIT to grant ENRAGE for 10 seconds and to DRAIN 3/4/5% (from 1/2/3%) HEALTH from the opponent while benefiting from HASTE.
Really cool buff, I already have an 50% Accuracy build for her, let's see how she will perform now.

Risky Ginger Parasoul, Idol Threat Filia, Ms. Trial Ms. Fortune, and Chameleon Twist Fukua:

Took them long enough.

There's merit to the old one. And I'm sad part of it was not incorporated in the remake. The new version is more flexible however, even with the Water only limitation

Game Update: 7.4 Patch Notes - The Sun Never Sets on the Cool | “Top Fun” August Backstage Pass

We were here for a (Top) fun time, not a long time, and the sun has begun its lazy descent into the horizon. Soon the moon will rise signalling the call of the wolf and wild, so let’s put the egrets and goons to bed, and go looking for some dinner (and maybe dessert).

New BACKSTAGE PASS: TOP FUN

This month, we’re bringing the cool, calculated, and somewhat odorous and mixing that with an endless and chaotic appetite. Whether you’re flipping foes in slow-mo or tearing into treasure (and maybe snacks), our two newest variants are ready to serve. Say hello to Fortune Cookie Ms. Fortune and her furry human friend, Chill Guy Beowulf.

FC-CG.jpg

Chill Guy Beowulf (Gold)

  • SA1: When blocking a HIT, apply 1 stack of SLOW for 10/13/15 seconds. When the opponent reaches 5 stacks of SLOW, remove all SLOW stacks and inflict STUN for 6 seconds.
  • SA2: When any teammate HITS a stunned opponent, inflict ARMOR BREAK and gain DEADEYE for 10/13/15 seconds each.
Fortune Cookie Ms. Fortune (Diamond)
  • SA1: After facing the same opponent for 10 seconds, Ms. Fortune suffers CURSE for 20/15/10 seconds, but gains permanent PRECISION, bypassing all BUFF prevention effects.
  • SA2: When CURSE is applied to Ms. Fortune, gain 1 stack of EVASION and HASTE for 10/20/30 seconds each, bypassing all BUFF prevention effects.

Relic Updates for 7.4:

Monthly Relic (Showtime) Cost Reduction:

All monthly relics going forward will cost 300 Theonite per pull instead of 500 Theonite.

Fortune’s Favor System:

A new pity system called Fortune’s Favor will help you target any fighters available in the standard pool of fighters to drop from Premiere Relics, Jackpot Relics, Gold Fighter Relics, and Diamond Fighter Relics. Visit the Relic store to set up your preferred fighters in the opening screen of a Premiere, Jackpot, Gold Fighter, or Diamond Fighter relic before opening your next relics!

Additionally, opening Premiere Relics will also have some bad luck protection. If you open 99 Premiere Relics without receiving a Diamond Fighter, your 100th Premiere Relic will be guaranteed to be a diamond.

If you haven't set your preferred fighters and you get a Gold or Diamond fighter, it will be a random fighter from the full loot table, so make sure you set them up to get the fighters you've always wanted, or target some you already have for more prestige levels!

Exclusive Fighters Entering the Standard Pool:

We have some exciting news to share regarding the timing of exclusive fighters entering the standard pool of fighters that can appear in standard relics. Starting with 7.4, monthly exclusive fighters will be entering the standard pool the month after they appear in the Shard Exchange store! This means that 4 months after their debut month ends, they will enter the standard pool! With that, the following fighters are now available in the standard pool:

Golds:
  • Wave Warrior Annie
  • Stellar Huntress Black Dahlia
  • Rhythm Rider Big Band
Diamonds:
  • Glacial Ghoul Squigly
  • Don Passione Eliza
  • Shear Force Filia

Shard Exchange Store Change:

We’ve also reduced the price of variants in the Shard Exchange Store from 5000 Gold or Diamond Shards to 4000 Gold or Diamond Shards. This should make it easier to save up for the previously exclusive monthly variants and also offset the cost a bit since they will enter the standard pool the following month they appear in there (and therefore available to choose for Fortune’s Favor!)

Backstage Pass Update: New All Access+ Offer

A new purchasable tier of the Backstage Pass is being added with the All Access+ Backstage Pass. The Backstage Pass now has 75 total levels, with levels 51-75 accessible by purchasing the All Access+ Backstage Pass. All previous Backstage Pass rewards are exactly as you'd expect them to be with all the same rewards as before, but each of the new levels will reward you with additional monthly relics per level! In addition, upon purchasing the All Access+ Backstage Pass, you will skip 10 levels immediately.
The regular version of All Access will remain, and this is meant to be an additional and optional value for those who want to achieve more goals while obtaining the best value for monthly relics.
*Note: While you can upgrade to All Access+ at any time, you can only do so in the in-app purchase if you have already selected the premium regular All Access. Additional value and rewards is still available through our web hub if you choose to make your initial purchase there.

Backstage Pass Skip Reduction:
Also, skips in the Backstage Pass for each level have been reduced from 500 Theonite to 200 Theonite.

Diamond Character Prize Fight Update:

All of the character Prize Fights have an additional reward at the end of the Diamond difficulty Prize Fight. In addition to getting the gold variant at the last score milestone, you’ll also now receive a Diamond Key. The rewards between the Gold Prize Fight and Diamond Prize Fights for these were too similar, so we wanted to add an additional reward in the form of a Diamond Key to incentivize going up a tier.

Why and Who? 🤔

Chill Guy Beowulf - It is supposed to be Tom "Iceman" Kazansky from Top Gun (1986). RIP Val Kilmer, but this palette is ugly and too specific/inconsequential. Iceman doesn't have one iconic look to base a palette on. This Beowulf borrows the colors from a few scenes where Iceman wore a blue polo shirt under his flight suit. Yawn. A forgettable first-draft fan palette.

Fortune Cookie Ms. Fortune - looks okay, but I don't get the reference. Any guesses?

⚖️ Balance Changes

Overall, good buffs for fighters left behind from old era power creep.

Untouchable Peacock - now a vampire like her palette (Alucard from Hellsing). Keeps survivability, but now gets extra damage and healing.
Diva Intervention Eliza - more Sekhmet stabby time
Fire Branded Annie - the removal of the "while ins Star Power mode" is huge. Most opponents were dead before even getting to half Star Power.
Eager Deceiver Umbrella - welcome to the perma-precision club
Underdog Beowulf - meter boost = more BBs
Number One Beowulf - deadeye and longer enrage makes him useful for once!
Wrestler X Beowulf - I'm in favor of getting rid of "need to get damaged" SA activations and the start with 3 stacks of permanent regen works for the Wolverine theme. Send an Inverse Polarity user, like Terror Byte Robo-Fortune, if you want to counter his heals.
Dragon Brawler Beowulf - kind of a nerf? Extra enrage, but now SA2 gated by Hype Mode only.
Freedom Fighter Beowulf - juiced base stats!

And huge amounts of utility and extra benefits built into Beowulf's blockbusters and special moves.

View attachment 27861

This patch is literally so peak, AG has finally done it.

Beo kit buff? Amazing. Would’ve been better if his moves had changed properties so he had better combo flexibility that’s not just chair 5x but idk if functional kit reworks will ever happen again.

Exclusives going from 9 months to 4? Awesome

Pity? Yes, yes and yes!

Buffing powercrept variants? Thank you.

Monthly Relic Cost Decrease? Cool but kinda mid ngl.

Dia PF change? Meh, I’ll take it ig. Dia PFs should give Dias as rewards imo.

Backstage Pass buff? Alright, kinda buffing P2W which is an interesting choice but w/e. Gotta make money somehow ig.

Still don’t like 4-hour CoC.

Number One needs his base stats to increase (specifically his ATK) to see any real utility and while Deadeye is cool and all, he hits like paper.

7-8/10 patch. AG Slander arc is over. (For now)
